Purpose / Mission: Olathe has a nine-member Sister Cities Committee which coordinates Sister City activities. The Sister City Committee promotes friendly relations and mutual understanding among Olatheans and the peoples of other countries.
Year Established: 1993 -- Relationship established between the Maebashi West Rotary Club and the Olathe Rotary Club. 1996 - Maebashi recognized as a “Friendship City” with Olathe. 2000 - A school partnership was formalized between the Olathe School District and Kyoai Gakuen of Maebashi.
Main Activities: Yearly activities associated with Maebashi include assisting with the planning and organization of the Annual Sakura (Cherry Tree) Festival, supporting and assisting with the Rotary Summer Youth exchange program (helping to entertain visiting students from Japan) and supporting and assisting as needed with the Olathe School District -- Kyoai partnership exchange (hosting visiting students, organizing a reception, etc.).
